Senior Body & Brain Classes in Colchester, Essex
Move your body. Engage your mind. Connect with others.
At One Body Colchester, our Senior Body & Brain Classes combine seated movement, brain-stimulating activities and fun group games to support physical function, mental engagement and overall wellbeing.
Led by Georgia, our classes are designed to keep you moving, thinking, learning and laughing. Every week brings something different, with varied activities built around the goals, needs and abilities of the group.
Whether you want to maintain your strength, practise your balance, challenge your memory, enjoy fun activities or simply spend time with others, our classes provide a friendly and supportive environment where you can focus on yourself and your wellbeing.
What happens in a class?
No two weeks need to feel the same! Georgia keeps sessions fresh, varied and exciting, combining physical exercises with brain challenges and enjoyable games.
Our seated classes focus on keeping both the brain and body engaged through a range of activities, which may include:
Strength and strengthening – exercises designed to support muscle function and everyday activities.
Balance and coordination – activities to practise control, stability and body awareness.
Speed and agility – adapted activities that encourage quick reactions, movement control and coordination.
Flexibility and mobility – gentle exercises to help maintain comfortable movement.
Memory and mental stimulation – activities involving memory, concentration, attention, recall and problem-solving.
Brain and body challenges – combining thinking, listening, reacting and moving to engage different skills together.
Fun games and group activities – enjoyable challenges that encourage participation, laughter and friendly competition.
Activities are adapted for seated participation, with options suited to different abilities and experience levels.
More than just exercise
Keeping the brain and body active is an important part of overall wellbeing as we age. Our classes offer an opportunity to work on physical skills, challenge the mind and enjoy a regular activity in a welcoming setting.
We recognise that social connection matters, too. Coming along each week provides an opportunity to meet people, make connections, share a laugh and feel part of the local community.
Our aim is to help you:
Maintain strength, mobility and coordination.
Practise balance and movement skills.
Keep your mind stimulated and engaged.
Challenge memory, attention and reaction skills.
Build confidence and work towards personal goals.
Enjoy fun, varied activities with other people.
Make time for your own health and wellbeing.
Above all, we want you to feel welcome, enjoy yourself and leave feeling positive about what you've achieved.

Who are the classes for?
Our Senior Body & Brain Classes are for older adults who want to stay active, keep mentally engaged and enjoy social interaction in a friendly group environment.
You don't need to be particularly fit or have previous experience. The classes are seated, making them an option for people who prefer chair-based activities or find standing exercises more challenging.
Everyone has different goals, abilities and needs. Georgia aims to make sessions engaging and adaptable, helping participants take part at a comfortable pace.
If you have a health condition, mobility concerns or specific support needs, please contact Georgia before attending so you can discuss whether the sessions are suitable for you.
What should I bring?
Getting started is simple. We recommend bringing:
Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.
Supportive footwear.
A bottle of water.
Your glasses or hearing aids, if you use them, so you can comfortably follow instructions and activities.
A willingness to join in, try something new and have fun!
All classes are seated, and you can work at your own pace. If you have particular health or support needs, please get in touch before your first session.
Come and join us!
You don't need to be an expert, particularly fit or experienced to take part. Our classes are about staying engaged, enjoying movement, challenging yourself in a supportive environment and connecting with others.
With Georgia's varied activities, brain challenges and fun games, there's always something different to look forward to.
Whether you'd like to work on your strength, balance, flexibility, coordination or memory, or simply enjoy a regular social activity, we'd love to welcome you.
